I came here from the city of Las Vegas with the idea of getting away and living how I want to live without close neighbors and city councils to tell me when, how and what to do. That makes me an individualist, some say. So be it. I like life with few constraints.

The Ozarks is one of the last bastions of places where individuality and liberty are not only celebrated, but protected. A unique feature of real estate here is seeing an old singlewide mobile home right next door to a mansion. The traditional question people ask is "why would rich people want to live next door to a thing like that"? The reason is because the rich person's mansion is on a prime piece of property overlooking one of the most gorgeous views in the country. And because they're rich, they can build a fence to block out the unsightly view. Lifestyle is what people who come here are seeking.

People come to the Ozarks from both coasts just to get away and create a lifestyle the way they want it. Are there regulations in the small towns of the Ozarks? Yes. But, by comparison, you could almost say "no" where cities are concerned.

There is nothing lacking in the Ozarks, especially in Branson. Entertainment is the #1 industry here, but shopping is catching up in this town that alternates between "sleepiness" in Winter and hustle-bustle in Summer.

Some people come here for the quiet, some for the lively night life. Many come to get into the entertainment business. I came to alleviate stress. When you get to be a paunchy, middle-aged lady with white hair it's time to give up the constant press of the city crowds. That's my reason; what's yours?
